합기도 검도 태권도
The direct translation is shiap. Daewae is the same as taikai.

Thank you! Would that be 시합 ?
Taik ai I have only seen in a fightingarts.com article used in the following context: "A taikia, or gathering of various schools of martial arts, is one of the best vehicles through which participants can experience other discipline through exhibitions, workshops and seminars."
Is that the taik ai that you are referring to?

Here's another one. How about fumikomi?
합기도 검도 태권도
Hi Daniel.
That's the one. Taikai is the formal term for a competition. WKC is kumdo segyae daewae for example and the big competition in Kyoto during Golden Week is called Kyoto Taikai. I'll pm you an old file from Texas A&M with comparative terms in English, Japanese and Korean.
Take care

We used to have a list on here. Don't know if it's still around.
