Early Choson Dynasty Arms and Armor

Here are some prints of early Choson Dynasty arms and armors. They are from the Veritable Records of the Choson Dynasty, Reign of Sejong The Great (c. 1418-1450 AD), Book 133, Volume 5, Page 356-7. The curved sword is identified with the Chinese charater "Kom" ("Geom") but curved blade swords in general are referred to as "Hwando."

I found these jpegs from the online Choson Dynasty Annals (The Veritable Records of the Choson Dynasty) that I had mentioned in my recent posts. In general, the annals are mostly in text except those dealing with ceremonies and descriptions of instruments used by the court or the government. These images were from books dealing with "Five Rituals" during the reign of Sejong the Great. Unfortunately, if you don't know Korean and some Chinese charaters, you will have nearly impossible time finding these. Here's the link again: 조선실록
